About the Author
J Garcia
Jose Garcia was born in Texas to two wonderful parents. His mother placed a high value on education, so he earned his bachelors in Accounting from the University of Houston and later completed his MBA at the Naval Postgraduate School. His father always emphasized hard work, and as a result, a strong work ethic was instilled in him and in his three brothers from an early age.
He graduated from Waltrip High School and attended the University of Houston for one year before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served four years as an enlisted aviation fire control technician, specializing in electronics and radar, and worked on F4 aircraft. After a Senior Navy Petty Officer and mentor advised him about career paths, he returned to the University of Houston. He had originally planned to study electrical engineering, but he discovered his passion in the business school and chose accounting.
He completed two internships at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and later accepted a position in the procurement organization. He spent thirty three years at NASA and retired as the Procurement Director for the Johnson Space Center. He remains deeply grateful for his service in both the military and NASA.
